The objective of the Office Technology Class is to instruct students in the various skills necessary to obtain and retain a career in clerical, office administration, or office management fields. This 10 week course is designed to develop the student's understanding of essential skills necessary to work in today's office environments. These skills include the ability to use the Micosoft Office suite of programs on the personal computer, as well as, general office machines such as faxes, copiers, scanners, and multi-line telephone systems. |
Effective business communication, typing, 10 key skills, and appropriate office etiquette and dress are stressed. The skills emphasized are those necessary to get and keep that "job with a future".
Curriculum Includes:
- Typing, keyboarding
- Ten-Key
- Parts of the computer
- Microsoft Windows, internet research, email
- Skills assessment, word-processing, proof reading, business correspondence, effective business communication, resume writing, spread sheet, database, presentation software.
- Faxing, copying, records management, filing, phone skills,
office management and time management.
